One Blind is in blockout material while the second is a sunscreen or sheer fabric that allows light to filter through. You can use both, switch between the two or choose partial coverage from each one. Having this level of control allows you to easily design the perfect combination for your needs at any given time.

Advantages of Double Roller Blind

Control light
The biggest advantage of this type of window covering is having access to such a wide range of options for blocking out light or letting it stream in. For example, use the blockout blinds to create total darkness, ideal for optimising your sleep cycle and helping you wake up more rested. During the day, sheer blinds can be utilised to allow varying amounts of light for reading or working. Double roller blinds are highly adaptable to your specific lifestyle and preferences.

Ensure privacy
If you live close to the neighbours or have large windows that face the street, having adequate privacy is a real concern. Double roller blinds are an excellent solution for helping you maintain privacy, especially during the day when you want to enjoy natural light. Sheer blinds are designed to allow sunlight in and provide views of the outdoors while still acting as an effective barrier that prevents outsiders from looking in.

Multifunctional
This window solution is designed to optimise how your home functions throughout the entire year, allowing you to enjoy your space as much as possible. One reason why double roller blinds are so popular in australia is that you can choose a sunscreen material with built-in uv protection for the sheer blinds. Having this crucial protection is important during the summer. Not only can a sunscreen blind protect your home’s occupants from the harmful effects of solar glare, but it can also protect your furniture and textiles from becoming faded over time. Double roller blinds also help the home to become more energy-efficient and comfortable because the material provides an extra layer of insulation, keeping you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Attractive and sleek
Along with versatility and high functionality, double roller blinds are a very stylish window covering option. We have a wide range of colours, patterns, textures, and fabrics to choose from. Whether you prefer neutral tones or a more colourful approach, we have the choice for creating a perfect look. The simplicity of double roller blinds ensures it can fit in with any design scheme or perfectly with curtains.

Durable and easy to use
All our roller blinds are solidly constructed with quality materials, including sturdy fabric and a steel double bracket system. Double roller blinds are easy to clean and are designed to be enjoyed for many years to come. This window solution is a very low maintenance and seamless addition to the home and can be operated manually or motorised.

How to Measure for Double Roller Blinds: Exact Size

To fit your double roller blind outside the window recess, follow these instructions. Your blind will be made exactly to the size you give us. As per the instructions, you’ll add extra width and drop to the window space so your double roller blinds overlap the recessed space neatly.

Measure the width

Decide how much overlap you want your blind to have on each side of your window recess. Measure this width.

Measure the drop

Measure the drop from where you want the top of the blind to start, and the bottom to finish. This is your drop measurement.

Enter your measurements

Go to your chosen product, enter your width and drop measurements, select exact size as your sizing option. We will not make any deductions to your measurements when you select the exact size option.

Left and right overlap

We recommend your blind overlaps the window recess by at least 5cm on each side (10cm overall). You will eliminate more light the more the blind overlaps the recess.

Top overlap

We recommend your blind overlaps the top of the window recess by at least 7cm.

Bottom overlap

If your window sill protrudes more than 5cm, you should stop your blind at this point. Be aware of obstructions such as radiators when measuring your drop.

Design and Customise Your Double Roller Blinds

Bracket selection - inside mount
For inside-mounted double roller blinds, recommends the top front double bracket. The top front double brackets offer great flexibility and compact styling keeping your blind fabrics close together with the front rolling feature of the top blind neatly completing the look. The top front double bracket allows for 2 different roll direction options. You can choose to either front roll both the back and front blinds or you can choose to back roll the back blind only. This is a personal choice and will depend on any obstructions you may have inside your window cavity. You can select your options when you design and order your blinds.

Bracket selection - outside mount
For outside-mounted double roller blinds, recommends the top back double bracket. The top back double brackets offer great flexibility and compact styling keeping your blind fabrics as close as possible to the architrave thereby reducing the light gap for greater light control and privacy. The top back double bracket allows for 2 different roll direction options. You can choose to either back roll both the back and front blinds which is recommended to achieve the least amount of gap. Or you can choose to front roll the front blind only. You can select your options when you design and order your blinds.

Control type
Decide if you want a chain drive to control both of your blinds or if you want to upgrade to a motorised control. You can also choose to just upgrade 1 of your blinds to a motor, which would generally be the front blind as this is the blind that will go up and down the most. If you choose a chain we will recommend a length for your chain drop, but you can choose a longer/shorter chain if you need it. You also need to decide which side you want your chain or motor on. For motors make sure you choose the side that is the easiest to access when you need to charge it.

Colour choices
You will have the choice of a white, black or anodised bottom rail and you can mix and match the 2 blinds with different colours to match your fabrics, make sure you note this for each blind as you take your measurements. Your choices of chains are either black or white as standard or you can upgrade to a metal chain or a stainless steel chain, which is highly recommended for wet areas or if you live near the coast.

Spring assist
All blinds with a chain drive over 1800mm wide should be ordered with a spring assist. This will ensure your blinds glide smoothly up and down with minimal effort and will limit wear & tear on the components.

Add on a pelmet
If you want to finish off your roller blind with one of our designer pelmets, you will need to order 2 single roller blinds instead of a double roller blind and ensure that the outside mounted blind is back rolled. Note: Pelmets are only compatible with outside-mounted, back-rolled roller blinds.

Installation & Mounting Options For Double Roller Blinds

01

Face fixed block out and the screen mounted in the reveal

There is a number of mounting options for double roller blinds installation and, you might be able to use any one you want or you might be limited to the configuration and clearance of your windows & window frame. This configuration is a personal favourite, by having the blockout blind on the face of the architrave means the whole window is covered. This method will block out more light when the blockout blind is rolled down. The blockout blind will also hide the components, brackets and mechanism of the screen. The only consideration is you need enough clearance inside the window reveal to mount the screen.

The double roller blind bracket

This clever bracket comes in two different options, a slimline bracket and a standard l shape bracket. Both types allow you to mount dual roller blinds in the face of the architrave or both blinds in the window reveal. Like any type of furnishing you need to have enough clearance if you wish to mount them inside the reveal. It also make a slimline double roller bracket. Both the brackets only require 85mm of clearance. The standard double-blind bracket needs 122mm.

How To Clean Your Double Roller Blind Quickly And Effectively

Indoor double roller blinds are one of the most popular styles of blinds – modern, affordable and incredibly easy to operate. However, as with any blind, over time they accumulate dust and debris as well as some more unpleasant things like mould and even insects. But, with no nooks or crannies harbouring the nasty stuff, keeping your double roller blinds clean is easy! Cleaning your indoor blinds takes as little as five minutes every couple of weeks with the odd deep-clean. Here, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of how to clean double roller blinds so you’re prepared for every situation.

Often you don’t have time to remove your blinds from the wall and give them a thorough clean. Here’s how you can quickly clean your double roller blinds without the hassle. Roll your double roller blind down completely. Use a vacuum or a duster to remove the majority of dust from the blind. Fill a bucket with warm water and a gentle detergent or cleaner. Use a cloth to wipe a small section of the blind with the cleaning solution to test that it won’t damage the blind. Wipe this solution over the front and back of the blind with the cloth. Leave the double roller blind down until it has fully dried. This time can vary depending on the material of the blind as well as the weather. Rolling it up before it has dried can lead to mould growth. This method is great for the ongoing upkeep of your blinds in between more thorough cleans. You can clean them this way as often as you feel necessary, but generally once or twice a month will do the job.

To get the most out of your indoor double roller blinds, you need to give them a deep clean now and then. Remove your blinds from the bracket. You’ll find the brackets on each end of your double roller blind. One of these will have a cover that you can open which will allow you to lift the blind off the wall. Your blinds should come with an instruction manual that will explain this in detail or you can contact the manufacturer. Unravel the blind slightly so that it is not tightly wrapped. Place the blind into a bathtub or large enough container and fill it with warm water and a gentle detergent. Be sure to patch test this detergent before you commit to deep cleaning with it. Leave the blind to soak for one to three hours. For especially dirty blinds, you can leave it overnight. Examine the blinds after soaking. If any stains or marks remain try to rub them away with a cloth. You might need a more targeted strategy if this isn’t effective. Empty the bath and rinse the blind with fresh, clean water. Thoroughly rinse it to ensure there’s no leftover detergent residue. Fully extend the blind and lay it out to dry on a drying rack. Once fully dry, remount the blind to the wall. We’d recommend giving them a thorough clean every six to twelve months to keep your blinds in top condition.
