How to Clean Zebra Blind Stains
With their bold black and white stripes, zebra blinds make an eye-catching style statement in any room. But over time, those crisp patterns can become dirtied with ugly stains that detract from the vibrant shades. Luckily, it's possible to get zebra slats looking fresh and clean again with some strategic staining techniques. Here's how to erase troublesome spots for beautiful blinds that dazzle.
Prepping Zebra Blinds for Stain Removal
Before cleaning, properly remove and inspect zebra blind slats:
Detach each individual slat from the blind hardware. Assess overall condition and stain severity.
Try cleaning a small, inconspicuous area first to test stain removal methods before applying to entire slats.
Group together slats by stain type to tailor the best treatment for each.
Cleaning Ballpoint Pen Stains
To erase stubborn pen marks without spreading ink:
Lightly dab rubbing alcohol onto the stain. Avoid aggressively rubbing surrounding fabric.
Once ink transfers to cloth, dab more alcohol until no more color lifts. Rinse with water and allow to fully dry before rehanging.
Tackling Grease and Oil Stains
For kitchen grease splatters or oily fingerprints:
Apply small amount of blue Dawn dish soap directly on the zebra blind stain.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush to gently scrub the soiled area until soap lathers. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and air dry.
Bleach Cleaning Solutions
For dingy white stripes or moldy slat edges:
Mix a very diluted bleach solution - 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. Lightly sponge solution onto affected areas.
Rinse immediately once stains lift to prevent over-bleaching. Allow zebra shades to fully dry before reinstalling.
With the right staining remedies, zebra blind spots disappear quickly. Soon those exotic patterns will dazzle better than ever!
